TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD BEST WARRIOR COMPETITION

The Best Warrior Competition is a rigorous three-day competition that tests the tactical and technical expertise of Soldiers and Airmen through scored events, such as an oral knowledge exam board, a tactical road march, obstacle course and physical fitness test, as well as “a mystery event” announced the day of the competition. Both Army and Air National Guard members compete against each other for the title of “Best Warrior” and “Best noncommissioned officer” in the state of Texas.

The winners of this Best Warrior competition will be named and honored at an upcoming banquet and will continue to represent Texas in regional and/or national Best Warrior competitions later this year.

The Best Warrior Competition is supported by the Military Forces Conference Foundation a 501 (c)(3) corporation formed to support conferences, meetings, events and gatherings of the National Guard of the United States. They are also supported by generous donations from corporate sponsors and local businesses throughout Texas.

THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT!

Gray area retirees, those Guard members who choose to retire prior to reaching age 60, earn an array of benefits for a lifetime. However, those benefits differ somewhat from other categories of retirees. This paper discusses some important aspects of reserve retirement. Gray area retirement is considered to be a non-regular retirement; a regular retirement has an immediate annuity and a non-regular retirement has a delayed annuity—at age 60.
