TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD BEST WARRIOR COMPETITION

The Best Warrior Competition is a rigorous three-day competition that tests the tactical and technical expertise of Soldiers and Airmen through scored events, such as an oral knowledge exam board, a tactical road march, obstacle course and physical fitness test, as well as “a mystery event” announced the day of the competition. Both Army and Air National Guard members compete against each other for the title of “Best Warrior” and “Best noncommissioned officer” in the state of Texas.

The winners of this Best Warrior competition will be named and honored at an upcoming banquet and will continue to represent Texas in regional and/or national Best Warrior competitions later this year.

The Best Warrior Competition is supported by the Military Forces Conference Foundation a 501 (c)(3) corporation formed to support conferences, meetings, events and gatherings of the National Guard of the United States. They are also supported by generous donations from corporate sponsors and local businesses throughout Texas.

Today NGAT testified before the House Committee on Higher Education.
HB 290 seeks to expand educational opportunities for Texas Military service members by increasing the maximum semester credit hours eligible for tuition exemptions from 12 to 15 per semester and extending the eligibility for assistance awards from 12 to 15 semester credit hours per semester, with a corresponding increase in total allowable semesters from 10 to 15.
Testimony by President Cruz included, "This legislation is critically important to enhancing recruitment and retention, meeting increased demand, and remaining competitive with neighboring states. This bill represents a critical investment in the educational future of Texas Military personnel and in the long term strength and readiness of our state's military forces."
Upon completion of testimony President Cruz stopped and visited NGAT member, Air National Guard Major, Dr Steve Ramirez. Today he was Doctor of the Day, during the Legislative Session. We are looking forward to his experience in the Government Affairs committee. We also went to the House and visited Brianah Wallace, Assistant Sergeant at Arms and Alec Degilio the House Doorkeeper. Both big supporters of NGAT and the Texas Military Department.
