NGAT GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS UPDATE

As national conference season approaches and we prepare for the 90th Texas Legislative Session, NGAT is closely monitoring issues that could impact our members at both the state and federal levels.

Among them is the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes a proposal that could transition dual-status technicians to Active Guard Reserve (AGR) status over a 10-year period.

We are also monitoring bills being filed for the upcoming Texas legislative session.

🏈 TEXAS TOUGH. ON THE FIELD AND IN UNIFORM. 🇺🇸

After last night’s incredible 24-23 comeback win over No. 1 Ohio State, it seems like the perfect time to remember that the connection between Texas Football and the Texas Army National Guard runs deeper than most people realize. Texas trailed 23-3 before scoring 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull off the win.

Former Longhorn Nate Boyer knows both kinds of teamwork.

Did You Know: Boyer served as a Staff Sergeant with the 19th Special Forces Group, Texas Army National Guard. He is also a United States Army Green Beret, actor, and he played college football for the Texas Longhorns as a long-snapper and was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015.

Football and military service are obviously very different, but both depend on people doing their job, trusting the person beside them and refusing to quit when things get tough.

Last night, the Longhorns showed a little of that Texas grit.

Congratulations, Longhorns. 🤘
